TOP 6 WEDDING MISTAKES TO AVOID
We elegantly step into our wedding gown, calm, cool, and collected, our family and friends surrounding us are on time and smiling, and the deliveries are not a moment too late.
But what happens when we're so stressed that we're trying not to scream out loud or snap at every moving person?
Here are some mistakes to avoid on your wedding day that will help lower your stress and provide you with the glitch free event that you have always dreamed of.
1. Setting perfect expectations
When we expect every item to fall into place, we set ourselves up for disaster.
Now we are not talking about planning and waiting for disaster to happen. Rather expecting that family members will lose items, your dress may get stepped on, and you'll be running out of time. All these hurdles are part of a normal wedding, so don't let's it frazzle you.
This is your opportunity to take a deep big breath and acknowledge that this happens at every wedding to every bride.
2. Staying Up Until the Wee Hours of the Morning
We get it, you're excited, nervous, anxious... the list goes on.
There is so much to do and you're only one person. The stress is mounting and it's keeping you up...
Take time to extricate yourself from the hustle and bustle of the preparations and catch that beauty rest that your body craves. Sleep does wonders for the body. It repairs damaged cells by releasing hormones, slows down your breathing, blood pressure, and the rate of your heart; which strengthen your cardiovascular system.
3. Not have a practice session with your makeup artist
When you think of your wedding day you don't think of the beautiful scenery, your amazing fiance, and you looking like a royal clown in the pictures.
The makeup artist, foundation color, and lighting drastically changes how the skin appears in real life and in pictures.
An inexperienced makeup artist can match the wrong shade of color to your skin, use the wrong lighting, or go too heavy on the makeup. These variables can make you stand out in pictures, and not in the way that will make you smile.
If you have eyes that sink in and your makeup artist gives you a smokey eye, in pictures you may look like the zombie bride.
Great for a graveyard wedding but maybe not the one you may be looking for.
4. Not having a practice hair session
You brought in a picture of that gorgeous hairstyle to the salon.
You already know how wonderful your hair will look in that style. It'll be smooth and gorgeous or wrapped beautifully in a wedding bun with cascading curls.
Fast forward 2 hours later and you look in the mirror, you are not sure if you look like a rat's nest or
a fluffy cotton ball.
Do yourself a solid and walk into the salon beforehand, or have your hairstylist visit your house and give you a trial to see if they can accomplish the style you're looking for.
5. Have a designated person gather and sort all rented items after the wedding.
Did you rent that gorgeous gown or veil? Perhaps you didn't want to spend too much money on decorations and you rented or borrowed centerpieces, vases, candles, etc.In the mayhem and the post wedding exhaustion, these items can get lost, damaged, or trampled upon.
Have a designated person look after these items and gather them after the wedding. It can be a waiter, party planner, family member or friend. You will be grateful when you don't have to shell out the money for these items.
6. Ordering your dress last minute
If you're buying your dress locally or ordering your dress online- make sure you buy or rent it as soon as possible.
Your dress will likely need tailoring or the website did not match the description. The last hurdle you need is to be stuck a month before your wedding scrambling to find a wedding dress.
And that's it! Fast and easy.
Simply following the steps above can save you aggravation and money to help you walk down the aisle with a calm smile on your face:)
